I thought this picture was cool because of the detail that is shown in the tree trunk. I think that the different colors of brown and red are cool and that they contrast with the white/light blue sky. I do wish that the rest of the tree trunk at the top could have been seen better. I believe that the rule of thirds is used in this picture.
I took this picture with a regular point and shoot camera with no special settings. I took it outside on a cloudy day around three or four, so the sun was not really out to add any additional lighting.
