I really liked my final READ Poster product. I had to place the READ on the right side because it would have blocked the arrow on the left if the text was on the left side.
It took me a very long time to cut out my portrait picture because I would always end up messing up the selection somehow. Although Photoshop can be VERY frustrating, I feel like I learned a ton during this assignment. It has taught me to seek out solutions by myself and to not rely on others for answers.
I had Katie Rose take my portrait picture for me in Mr. Yocum's room in front of the green screen. I do think that my selection could have been better, since there are splotches of green and white around my portrait. However, I feel that it was very good considering it was only my second selection. There was no additional lighting except for the normal room lighting.
I choose the book Go Ask Alice which is an anonymous diary about a 15/16 year old girl who struggles with doing drugs and choosing the right choice. This book is really dear to me because I feel that Alice's emotions and feelings are poured out in her diary, and all I can do is watch while her whole life unfolds around her. I can relate to Alice because she is the same age as me and we share similar characteristics. I choose the background from http://www.lizaheider.com/. I choose this particular picture because drug abuse is usually symbolized with an upwards arrow. Also, I think that the arrow symbolizes the many different choices and consequences that we face in life. I feel like this book/poster could premote drug abuse awareness in high school teens.
