POW #7

I chose this picture for the "I am" theme because it professes my faith because I am a Catholic.  I liked how the chair was set up so that you could still see Jesus and the stained glass.  However, I tried so hard to get the lighting to be right by changing the ISO and amount of light that was let into the camera.  This was the best picture that I could get.  I used the lights from the chapel as well.

Stop Motion Concept Storyboard

For my stop motion piece, I was going to start by having a stuffed animal pick up a pencil.  The stuffed animal is going to walk over to a desk and is going to start drawing another stuffed animal.  Once the drawing is complete, the stuffed animal will hold up the picture he has drawn.  The stuffed animal in the picture will tear through the picture and come out to sit beside the other.  Last, I will make a heart grow in between the two.

POW #6

For my POW,         I took a picture
of my sister's hand    as she was holding
her lollipop.  I did use the special "Cloudy day"
setting on my camera to take the picture.  I
really liked this picture and I did change
it on photoshop to make the clouds
a bit darker.  I think that the
composition was good and
I was also very proud
of my creativity,
which is not
something
I'm good
at!

Kenny Gram #5

I liked this picture until I had to make it into a square.  In order to do that, I had to crop out the majority of the top and the majority of the bottom.  I also had to change the image size after.  The reason that I cropped the picture first was because if I went straight to changing the pixel size, it distorted my picture immensely.  I thought that the picture was creative because a stop sign has the Bishop Kenny colors on it.  I just thought that all of the adjustments took away from the picture.  I took the picture with normal sunlight and on the SLR cameras in the classroom with no special settings.

Second Unofficial Spokesperson from the Heart Attack Grill Dies

Event Summary:  It is a sad day for the Heart Attack Grill.  Their unofficial spokesperson and probably biggest fan John Alleman died, ironically, of a heart attack on Monday, February 11.  According to the customers, Alleman was constantly promoting the restaurant.  While he was never paid or associated with the payroll of The Heart Attack Grill, diners would watch him enthusiastically wait outside the restaurant, coaxing tourists and residents to stop on by.  When he got tired, he could be found inside the diner eating one of the infamous burgers.  Critics pose a different view of Alleman's death.  He is the second unofficial spokesperson to die.  Blair River, the 575 lb. "Gentle Giant" died back in March of 2011 of flu-related symptoms.  He was only 29.

Event Significance: I think that the Heart Attack Grill should view their spokesperson's death as a wake-up call.  After many customers had experienced "symptoms" of heart attacks WHILE eating the burgers, health reforms must be made.  It has an impact on the world because of the amount of tourists who come to visit Las Vegas.  Trying to imitate the over-the-top American lifestyle, they come from all over the globe to see Las Vegas and maybe get a bite to eat at the Heart Attack Grill.  If they don't know the background story behind the restaurant and have dangerous medical conditions, consequences could occur.

Personal Response: I think that the Heart Attack Grill should issue some health reforms.  Maybe they should stop dipping their tomatoes and lettuce in grease, or maybe lower the calorie count of their infamous "Quadruple Bypass Burger" of 9,982 calories.  I don't know, but the amount of fat in that burger, which wasn't listed in the article, may just be a little high, but just a little.  Obviously when their spokesperson dies of a heart attack, it should send a message to the owners.

Judge Ups Bail for Rude Woman
Video Link

Event Summary: In Miami, 18 year old Penelope Soto has now had a taste of jail life.  During her hearing, she was constantly rude to Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat.  She laughed when asked about her jewelry and financial assets, and tended to brush off the Judge's questions like they were nothing.  Before leaving the courtroom, she "politely" told the Judge, "Adios."  Fed up, Judge Jorge summoned her back to the courtroom with a surprise: a raise in her bail from $5,000 to $10,000.  In shock, Soto asked if the judge was serious, and he responded with, "I am serious. Adios." Angered, Soto then proceeded to leave while flipping off the Judge.  Summoning her back again, the Judge sentenced her to 30 days in jail.

Event Significance: I think that this event only had a local significance.  The Judge only affected Penelope Soto's life and no one internationally.  However, this story does have a national and global impact because it opens up other people's eyes to the growing level of disrespect that has crept into today's society.

Personal Response: When I first saw this video, I thought that it was HILARIOUS.  The look on Penelope Soto's face was just priceless; her bright wide eyes, hanging jaw, and raised eyebrows completed the whole story.  I think that, while hilarious, it does point out the growing disrespect that teenagers have in America.

KennyGram #4

This was my KennyGram for week 4.  I had another picture of the same subject but at a different angle that I chose not to post because the middle cross looked crooked.  Because of that, the whole picture looked funny and I couldn't figure out how to fix it.  While I like this picture, I do not think that it is one of the best pictures that I have taken.  I do think that it represents Bishop Kenny because the crosses show that we are a Catholic community who are strong in our faith. I took it with the SLR cameras in the classroom with no manual settings, and I took it around 1:00, so I did not need any special lighting.
